Mini Grants for Child Maltreatment Prevention Curricula

In partnership with the Colorado Department of Human Services Office of Early Childhood, Illuminate Colorado is awarding mini grants to support three curricula to prevent child maltreatment: Nurturing Healthy Sexual Development, Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children, and Bringing the Protective Factors to Life in Your Work.

Authorized facilitators in each curriculum are eligible to submit mini grant requests.

Nurturing Healthy Sexual Development

A 3-hour workshop designed to give participants accurate information about children’s sexual development as well as help develop skills and comfort to promote healthy behaviors and respond to children’s questions. A comprehensive approach to preventing child sexual abuse ensures adults interacting with children possess the basic knowledge and skills to foster healthy sexual growth and development in children. Spanish translation is currently underway for this curricula.


Stewards of Children

A 2 to 3-hour video-based curricula using real people and real stories to show participants how to prevent child sexual abuse. It is scientifically proven to increase knowledge, improve attitudes and change child-protective behaviors. Available in English and Spanish, this program is for any responsible adult who cares about the welfare of children, particularly youth-serving organizations and personnel.

Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life in Your Work

A series of seven, 2-hour modules designed and created by The National Alliance of Children’s Trust and Prevention Funds. These modules provide an overview of the Protective Factors, dive deep into each Protective Factor, and address promising strategies to strengthen families for practitioners in multiple settings. The 2-hour overview module is available in English & Spanish.
