Join us for a special luncheon at the Children’s Museum of Denver to celebrate the launch of Family Connects Colorado and meet our special guest, Dr. Sherika Hill, Executive Director of Family Connects International. During this luncheon, Dr. Hill will provide an overview of the Family Connects model and outcomes, and local partners will share an update on their progress. Free on-site parking is available and lunch will be provided.

Family Connects is an evidence-based, upstream approach to achieving optimal child and family well being through universal newborn home visitation. The research results on this model have been captivating, showing that this voluntary, universal, population-level strategy has resulted in significant measurable improvements in maternal health and prevention of child maltreatment.

At the core of Family Connects is a direct offer to all new parents while they are still in the hospital for voluntary, no-cost parenting support through a home visit by a qualified registered nurse at approximately 3 weeks postpartum. Through this simple strategy, linkages to critical services are standardized, help-seeking stigma is reduced, hard-to-reach populations are connected, community support is increased, and families with complex needs are offered more intensive supports. Illuminate Colorado has been partnering with Family Connects International and 4 local counties (Boulder, Eagle, Denver, & Jefferson) to bring the evidence-based Family Connects model to Colorado.
